The UPC Newsletter was started a few months after the announcement of the UPC and provided a well read independent source of industry and technical information ranging from how the symbol was decoded, issues with formats and the number of UPC scanning stores installed the prior month.  The UPC Newsletter included a lot of information people were looking to learn and provided news when there were few other sources available for UPC news.
