ID History Museum
In the summer of 2006 several people who
had participated in the growth of electronic retail checkout systems
met in Raleigh, NC to investigate creating a knowledge store and
presentation of how these systems came into existance. Over time
a North Carolina Non-profit corporation was formed with a Board
of Trustees. The current Trustees include:

Previously with IBM Store Systems Marketing in the Raleigh, NC Market Support Center

Barry Franz Member of the U.P.C. Symbol Selection Committee and previously with Procter & Gamble.

George Laurer Creator of the UPC Symbol Barcode and previously with IBM Store Systems Engineering

Henry Steele Initially Managed IBM Projects to demonstrate the
value of Grocery detail checkout information and then was IBM Grocery Distribution Industry
Consultant from 1984 untill 1991.

Tom Wilson, McKinsey & Company Consultant to the Grocery Manufacturer and Supermarket industries for the purpose of creating the U.P.C. Barcde Symbol.

Lee Dixon Previously with IBM Store Systems Engineering and the inventor of early IBM Scanners
